About A Piece of Havana
Until 2008, there wasn't a single Cuban restaurant in Charlotte, North Carolina. That changed when we opened A Piece of Havana and began introducing the people of Charlotte to authentic Cuban food, live music, and dance.
At A Piece of Havana, we do more than serve great food. Featuring flamenco music, salsa dancing, live DJs, four big-screen TVs, and our signature Havana Lounge; we're a restaurant, an entertainment venue, a sports bar, and a gathering place.
Our chef, Fernando Aquino, began his career in Argentina, before moving to Charlotte to work at The Palm™ and then Ruth's Chris Steak House™. Fernando has been our head chef for seven years, and he leads us in bringing you the best Cuban food in town.
A Piece of Havana restaurant was created by a Cuban family living in Charlotte who wanted to celebrate their cultural heritage and their family cooking tradition. Juan Plasencia, one of our owners, learned to love cooking from his mother, who is a chef in Havana. He had the dream of bringing her excellent dishes to Charlotte so people here could delight in authentic Cuban cuisine.
