A Piece of Havana History
A Piece of Havana Restaurant was created by a Cuban Family in Charlotte to celebrate their cultural heritage, and their family Cooking tradition since Cuba. Juan Plasencia one of the owners have that cooking love from his mother, she is a graduated Cuban Chef in Havana, Cuba and he have that dream of having those excellent dishes brought to Charlotte, so people can get delighted with the Authentic Cuban dishes.
A Piece of Havana Restaurant menu is filled with hearty dishes, appetizers that include Papa rellena (Stuffed Potato with ground beef), Empanadas, Tostones Rellenos de Camarones. There are amazing salads and Sandwiches to choose from including the Authentic Cuban sandwich and the special seafood salad. The main entrees include specialties such as: Arroz con Pollo, Bistec de Palomilla, and the very popular Paella from Spain (A seafood Mix in a Saffron yellow seasoned rice cooked with beer), and ropa vieja (Shredded Beef) one traditional Cuban dish. All our main plates are served with white rice, black beans and sweet fried plantains or your choice to select two side dishes from our menu.
Our Bar has a great selection of wines, all different exotic drinks, National and imported beers as well as the best Mojitos in town (The most popular Cuban drink) to have an old style Havana feel. We offer our Cuban style sangrias by the glass and also by the pitcher. If there is something you don’t see in the menu you can always ask our Bartender to have ready for you.
The Restaurant has a fresh touch for the interior design, trying to recreate a feeling that you are in the 1900 in Havana, Cuba. The Owners dream is that you will feel special in this warm, comfortable, and inviting Restaurant. The dining room has beautiful chandeliers hanging from the ceiling, which accents the antique sconces on the wall and there is all kind of Cuban art pictures everywhere as well as a unique Havana Mural that makes you think you are right there by the malecon (Havana Sea wall), we have been trying to picture every detail so between the music and the ambience and décor you will never realized you are in Charlotte, you will think that you are in this beautiful Island that so many people from all over the world enjoyed a long time ago and it was even one the favorites destination for Ernest Hemingway when he used to visit Havana just to taste the unique and Authentic Mojitos and daiquiris made at La Bodeguita del Medio in Havana a popular Bar that still looks the same.
At A Piece of Havana our signature dishes, our daily specials and our homemade desserts are made to order. The food is as good as the service that you will receive from our wait staff. The main goal for A Piece of Havana is that service has to be accompanied by the professionalism of the Management and staff, which include the waiters, servers, bartenders, cooks, host/hostesses and administration, and that is the backbone to be a successful restaurant. Our staff are dressed with our Traditional “Guayabera” a very elegant shirt worn for centuries in Cuba by all men during very special occasions.

Driving Directions: From I-77 take Exit 90 Carowinds Blvd go West 2.2 mileds make a left at South Tryon St (Hwy 49) and just 0.2 miles on your right side you will find us at the Yorkridge Shopping Center on the new Peak Fitness Plaza. From I -485 take Exit #1 South Tryon Street Drive South 2.2 miles on South Tryon (Hwy 49) and after passing Carowinds Boulevard we will be at the right side of the Road in the next shopping center.
